Specially Appointed Professor, Clinical Research Unit of Respiratory Pathophysiology,
Graduate School of Health Care and Nursing, Juntendo University

In November 2020, I was appointed as the Chairman of the Japan Society for Respiratory Care and Rehabilitation during the board meeting. Subsequently, in November 2022, I was reappointed for a second term, a responsibility that I accept with a deep sense of commitment.

This Society, with its roots tracing back to the Respiratory Management Study Group established in 1980, boasts a 44-year history and tradition. Throughout this time, we have achieved continuous progress and development in the field of respiratory care and rehabilitation through interdisciplinary collaboration. We hold this longstanding tradition in high regard and are committed to further advancing our efforts toward the future.

The mission of this Society is to contribute to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and practices in both the foundational and clinical (Figure) aspects of respiratory care and rehabilitation. To fulfill this mission, we will continue to listen to the voices of our members and society at large, striving not only to enhance the management and operations of the Society but also to make meaningful contributions to society.
